Nestled along the scenic Sauble River, Allenford is a charming village located on Highway 21, perfectly situated halfway between Southampton and Owen Sound. Rich in history, the community was once known as Driftwood Crossing. To honour the first settler, Mr. Allen, and the easy ford across the river, the name was changed to Allenford — a fitting tribute to its roots.
Allenford sits right on the border of the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie and the Town of South Bruce Peninsula, giving residents and visitors the best of both communities. In 2007, the Allenford Improvement Association was formed to bring people together and to work with both municipalities for the betterment of village life.
Community Spirit
Allenford is known for its small-town warmth and active community spirit. Every Canada Day weekend, the village comes alive with celebrations that include fun family activities, the ever-popular annual rubber duck race, and a spectacular fireworks display.
Surrounded by rolling countryside and set in a peaceful river valley, Allenford offers all the charm of rural living while being just a short drive from larger centres. The Sauble River winds gracefully through the heart of the village, offering beautiful views and a sense of calm to residents and visitors alike.
